ANTIPOLO--After 16 years, the PBA's "10,000 Points Club" now has a new member.

James Yap became only the 15th member, 14th among locals, to breach the five-digit mark in terms of total points scored in the league on Saturday night at the Ynares Center during the Rain Or Shine-Meralco game.

Needing only three points to make 10,000 entering the game, the star scorer got the breakthrough with 49.3 seconds left in the third quarter of the game, burying an open three-pointer from the left corner that actually rolled on the rim before going back in.

Yap actually made a jumper prior to the said triple, so his running total is 10,002 points.

He became the first person to make 10,000 points in his career since Jerry Codiñera made the milestone in 2001 when he was playing for Mobiline, now TNT.
