MAKATI--For a long time, the captain's armband of Kaya Makati has been on either Aly Borromeo or Masa Omura.

So many may have presumed Borromeo will play the skipper's role for Makati's Wednesday night PFL game against Marikina with Omura out due to suspension.

But in a probable surprise move, Coach Noel Marcaida assigned Woody Ugarte as the captain and Borromeo, who has been coming off the bench this season, was eventually a DNP and had to watch the entirety of the match that ended up in a 2-2 draw at the sidelines.

For the former national team captain, however, it is not a problem as he told Dugout Philippines that his role as Makati's skipper is different from before.

"My role this year is different. It's more on motivating the young guys on and off the pitch, during training and outside of it," Borromeo bared.

In fact, he also said that he is fine on whoever aside from him and Omura will get the armband as long as he sees his club plays as a collective unit.

"Our cohesion is still there, and that's important. We all drive off each other's energy," Borromeo continued, agreeing to what goalkeeper Ref Cuaresma said earlier Wednesday during the post-match press conference.
