KUALA LUMPUR–Defending champion Chezka Centeno retained her women’s 9-ball singles title Sunday, thanks to an untimely scratch of teammate Rubilen Amit in the final rack to end an exciting finish to the championship round of the Billiards and Snooker Competition held in Hall 2 of the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center here in Malaysia.
“It was really a heartbreaker po talaga,” said Amit, the 2009 and 2013 WPA Women's World Ten-ball championship and 2007 WPA Women's World Nine-ball Championship Runner-up.
Amit had two remaining balls to pocket in the final rack of race-to-seven win, 13-rack match when she miscalculated the cue ball.
Centeno, thus booked the gold in the all-Filipino final of this event. Amit settled for the silver.
