Cignal returns to D-League Finals after sweeping Marinero

PASIG--Cignal clinched the first seat in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup Finals with an 87-64 win over Marinerong Pilipno in Game 2 of the their semifinal series at the Ynares Sports Arena on Tuesday.

The Hawkeyes slayed the Skippers in the final frame, dropping 28 points while limiting their foes to just 16 to blow the game wide open.

Toto Jose, with all the questions regarding his availability for Game 2 because of his SEA Games duties with Gilas, showed up and pulled another dominating performance, tallying 24 points on 6-of-10 shooting and 11 rebounds for Cignal, which swept its best-of-three series against Marinero and will await the winner of the Flying V-CEU series in the best-of-five championship round. Flying V, which leads the series, 1-0, can complete its own sweep against CEU in their own semis Game 2 later Tuesday.

Robbie Herndon and Jeoff Javillonar each tallied 17 markers for Marinero, whose Cinderella run came to an end.
