Ginebra waylays Kia to score second straight win

QUEZON CITY—Ginebra went on fire early into its PBA Governors' Cup game against Kia and walked away with a 120-99 win at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Wednesday night.

The Barangay went to work right from the opening tip, quickly building a double-digit spread and settling for a 15-point lead, 33-18, after the first quarter.

They would keep the Picanto at bay in the second quarter and pulled away for good at the start of the third, dropping a 16-2 blast that eventually helped then swell the lead to as high as 34.

Justin Brownlee led Ginebra, which won for the second straight time, with 26 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists, two blocks, and one steal before sitting out the entire fourth quarter.

Greg Slaughter continued his comeback trail with 18 points, six rebounds, five assists, and two blocks.

Mark Caguioa added 16 points on 8-of-9 shooting in just 13 minutes off the bench.

Reden Celda tallied 21 markers, four caroms, and two steal for Kia, which fell to 0-4.
