MANILA--When it comes to heated rivalries in Philippine college basketball, you can count on La Salle and FEU for that.

And what turned out to be a harmless pre-season game between the Tamaraws and Green Archers turned into a nasty free-for-all in an invitational tournament in Davao City.

The resulting fight led to the referees announcing a double forfeiture with FEU leading 73-59 with 20 seconds left in the third quarter, according to multiple tweets sent from Almendras Gym.
The fracas sets up an exciting opening week of UAAP Season 80 when these teams, which won the last two titles, collide on Sept. 10 in MOA.

Based on multiple reports, things get a little heated midway into the third after Ron Dennison's ejection after his hard foul on a Ricci Rivero drive.

And it did not stop there. Kenneth Tuffin and Kib Montalbo got into their heads after a hard body check that led to the fracas, which was set off when Rivero and FEU's Axel Iñigo could not get out of each other in a body lock.

Not to be outdone, the already disqualified Dennison threw a right hand straight into Montalbo's face, thus making the situation worse.
But that was not the end of it as another fight broke out near the middle of the court, leading to more chaos.
All in all, three Tamaraws (Dennison, Arvin Tolentino and RJ Ramirez) and two Green Archers (Montalbo and Aljon Melecio) were sent to the showers.

This was not the first time that these two teams get heated even before the UAAP season as it was the case last year.
