Laguna set to parade Korean defender against Manila

By Ivan Saldajeno

MAKATI--Stallion Laguna got a huge boost in defense when Assistant Coach Armando Heria announced the signing of Korean centerback Ko Kyung-Joon on Friday.

The 30-year-old defender, who played for Seoul E-Land last season in the Korean second division play, began his pro career with Suwon in the first division and had stints in Hong Kong and Japan before joining Laguna.

But one thing Heria likes about Ko is his coachability.

"He has adjusted easily to our defending tactics," Heria said during the pre-match press conferenece of Laguna's third round meeting against Manila at the Gilligan's Restaurant along Greenbelt 1 on Friday.

In fact, he added, "He will start tomorrow."

Ko is expected to give more comfort in the offensive end to gunners Balut Doctora, Carlo Polli, Jhan-Jhan Melliza, and Gabriele Mascazzini as Laguna tries to stretch an unbeaten run which currently runs at five straight matches as the club plays host to league-leading Manila.

Laguna and Manila will face off on Saturday at the Biñan Football Stadium in Biñan at 4 p.m.
