MANILA--Rey Nambatac pulled off his first breakout game of the season, scoring 31 points as Letran brushed aside College of St. Benilde, 92-78, in the third leg of the NCAA Season 93 On Tour Thursday at the Letran Gym.
Held scoreless in the first quarter, the six-foot Nambatac exploded for 15 points in the searing second-quarter assault, while adding eight of the team's 26 fourth-quarter points for the victory.
Nambatac also finished with 11 rebounds, dished off five assists, and stole the ball twice. Bong Quinto added 14 points and seven assists, while suprise starter Daryl Pascual chipped in 12 with five boards.
The win was the Knights' second straight to improve to an even 3-3 record. It also ended the jinx of
home teams in the home-and-away tour, after losses by Arellano and Mapua in the previous outings.
CSB actually had a 21-14 lead at the end of the first quarter, and even tied the game 66 entering the fourth. Rookie Unique Naboa pumped in 17 points for the Taft-based squad, now dropping to 1-4.
Clement Leutcheu added 12 points and eight rebounds, while Kendrix Belgica finished with 10 before leaving the game with a shoulder injury.
