MAKATI -- Fresh from their AFC Cup ASEAN zone conquest, Ceres Negros continues its surge in the PFL Saturday afternoon, downing Kaya Makati on their own UMak turf to solidify their charge to the top spot.

A gritty 3-2 win by Risto Vidakovic's Busmen puts them just two points behind their victims in the tight tussle for third place with their eight win in just eleven matches.

Omid Nazari put Ceres on board first with a low free kick in the 19th minute.

Arnie Pasinabo then doubled Negros' advantage with a timely shot from outside in the 50th minute, but Robert Lopez-Mendy immediately pulled one back just two minutes later after pouncing in a bad clearance from his former teammate Junior Muñoz.

However, Ceres would have the last laugh as Bienvenido Marañon sealed all three points with a tap-in from Fernando Rodriguez's cross in the 63rd minute.

Kaya pulled one back deep in stoppage time through Jordan Mintah but it was not enough for them to avoid their second straight setback.

Both teams will be defending their home turf in the midweek, with Negros hosting league-leading Meralco Manila in Panaad, and Makati takes on JPV Marikina in UMak.
