MANILA--For Rene Catalan, his win is his family's as well.
So despite feeling bittersweet that he beat Bu Huo You Ga only to witness brother Robin losing to Dejdamrong Sor Amhnuaysirichoke at One: Quest for Greatness at the Stadium Negara in Kuala Lumpur on Friday night, Rene is willing to let Robin join his party
“I am a bit sad because my younger brother fell short in his match. But as a brother, I am sharing this victory with him and my entire family,” said the older Catalan.
Rene started his MMA career with back-to-back losses, he has now racked up three straight wins following the conquest of Bu.
“Who would have thought that I can accomplish this after I went through numerous trials that I encountered in the past? Now I am here. My happiness is overflowing,” continued Catalan.
Still, he did not take anything away from Bu.
“It is truly an honor to square off with a talented competitor and a Chinese grappling prodigy like Bu Huo You Ga. He gave me a tough test tonight. I tip my hats off to him and his skills. This bout will be beneficial to my growth as a martial artist in this sport and in One Championship,” Catalan contiinued.
