By Ivan Saldajeno

MANILA--For the second time in three months, Gilas Pilipinas showed Indonesia why it is the king of Southeast Asian basketball.

Gilas romped Indonesia, , in the championship game of the SEA Games men's basketball tournament at the MABA Stadium in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday night.

Gilas banked on its defense and stifled Indonesia all game long while breaking away in the last three quarters for the Philippines' 17th gold in the competition.

Mike Tolomia sparked the breakaway with his three-point shooting and finished with 20 points on five triples with four rebounds and three assists.

Kobe Paras went for a perfect 6-of-6 from the field while punctuating the game with two emphatic slams for 14 points with two rebounds and three assists.

Toto Jose, who was recently named the PBA D-League Foundation Cup MVP on Thursday, also had a perfect game, making all of his three field goals and six free throws for 12 markers with three rebounds and two assists.
