Calisaan. Stags overcome Generals with furious endgame surge

By Ricky Manliguis

MANILA—The first time San Sebastian and Emilio Aguinaldo College met, Michael Calisaan wasn’t able to finish the game due to a unsportsmanlike foul.

This time, however, Calisaan came away big in the end. And it was another Baste victory.

The Golden Stags clicked in the fourth quarter as it waylaid the Generals, 81-69, in the third game of Friday’s NCAA Season 93 men’s basketball competition at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan City.

Holding a slim 67-65 lead on the 3:42 mark of the final canto, the Stags mounted a 14-4 finishing kick behind Calisaan, Ian Valdez, Lorenzo Navarro, and Ryan Costelo for the final count.

With the win, the Stags improved to an even 5-5 record, while the loss relegated the Generals to a three-way tie with idle Arellano and Perpetual at 4-6.

The veteran Calisaan produced 19 points, five rebounds, an assist, a steal, and a block to lead San Sebastian. JM Calma added 12 markers, while Costelo and Navarro submitted 11 apiece.

Francis Munsayac paced EAC with 14 points and five assists, while Irvin Garcia cashed in 11. Sidney Onwubere was limited to just nine markers with eight rebounds on just 1-of-6 shooting from the field.
