MANILA—Jerome Garcia rode off to a sizzling first-half
performance to power Emilio Aguinaldo College to an 85-72 win over the listless
Mapua in the second game of Thursday action of the NCAA Season 93 senior’s
basketball competitions at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan City.
Garcia exploded for 23 of his 27 points in the first 20
minutes of action for the Generals, now winners of five of its 11 assignments
this season, and bounced back from a loss to San Sebastian College last week.
The transferee from Adamson also connected 9-of-19 field
goal clip, including 6-of-12 from beyond the arc, while collaring six rebounds,
an assist, and a steal in 30 minutes of playing time.
Garcia hit five of his triples in the first two quarters
to give EAC a 53-39 lead at the break and never looked back since.
Sidney Onwubere atoned for his measly five-point
performance against the Stags by adding a double-double of 16 points and 15
boards.
Mapua, now losers of 11 of 12 games, were led by Laurenz
Victoria with his 15 points and eight rebounds, while JB Raflores and Almel
Orquina chipped in 14 and 12, respectively.
