QUEZON CITY -- Ateneo romped to its sixth consecutive triumph in the UAAP Season 80 men's Basketball tournament, clawing NU for a 96-83 beating at the end of Saturday evening's doubleheader at the Big Dome.

Blue Eagles center Chibueze Ikeh had extended his shooting range for the very first time this year en route to a team-high 18 points, with a perfect 2/2 from downtown, firing and hitting one triple each in both halves.

JJ Alejandro led the Bulldogs to a game-high 24 points in the loss that ensured that they will end the first round below .500.

NU surprisingly took the opening quarter but Ateneo took initiative in the next period to coast to an unblemished 6-0 card, withstanding a Bulldogs' charge that pulled to within three midway into the second.
