MANILA—Defending champions San Beda overcame a tentative start to hack out a
72-58 win over College of Saint Benilde in the opening salvo of second round
action of the NCAA Season 93 men’s basketball tournament at the FilOil Flying V
Centre in San Juan City Tuesday.
In the game marred with a late-game scuffle resulting to the ejection of Robert Bolick and rookie Clint Dolinguez, the Red Lions were able to sustain
its offensive firepower in the end to chalk up its eighth straight victory and
solidify its hold for second behind unbeaten Lyceum (9-0).
After being down in the first quarter, the Mendiola-based ballclub went to attack mode early in the next period behind Davon Potts, who led the 33-14 first-half assault for a 41-28 cushion at the break.
The rampage continued in the second half, with the Red Lions taking a 63-41 bubble in the third, and never looked back since then.

2:28 left in the game after retaliating on CSB’s Carlo Young hard foul.
Potts accounted for 12 points in his finest game so far this season. Javee Mocon was the other Red Lion in double figures with 10 along with 10 boards.
As per league rules, Bolick and Dolinguez will miss Beda's next assignment against Mapua on Friday. Young was also thrown out of the game.
