Pirates slay Blazers, extend win run to 11

MANILA—Red-hot Lyceum notched its eleventh straight triumph by blasting College of St. Benilde, 83-69, in the second match of Friday action in the NCAA Season 93 men’s basketball competitions at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan City.

Despite an improved game from the Blazers this time, CJ Perez and the rest of the Pirates still took advantage of the opponent’s rash of turnovers while dominating on the offensive to keep its unblemished record intact.

After a 23-10 lead after the first quarter, the boys from Intramuros continued its fiery form in the next three cantos while forcing CSB to 34 turnovers translated  into 39 TO points and never looked back since.

Perez top-scored for LPU with an all-around performance of 14 points, nine rebounds, three assists, and two steals.  Jesper Ayaay contributed 12 markers, while Mike Harry Nzeusseu had a double-double of 11 and 10 rebounds.

Benilde, however, won the rebounding battle 42-37, while its defence produced 23 LPU errors.

Edward Dixon issued a career game with a game-best 27 markers for CSB, which slid further down the standings with a 2-9 win-loss card.

Import Clement Leutcheu had 13 along with 20 boards.
