PASAY CITY -- Far Eastern U came alive in the second half to repulse University of Santo Tomas, 78-65, and kick-start Saturday action in the UAAP Season 80 men's basketball at the Mall Of Asia Arena.

Arvin Tolentino and the rest of the Morayta-based squad survived a blistering UST start with a gritty stand in the last two quarters to get back in the winning track with an even 2-2 win-loss card.
They also kept the España-based Tigers winless in four games.

Trailing by a point in the start of the fourth, FEU went on an 18-0 tear highlighted by Tolentino’s back-to-back triples for a 63-48 cushion while dousing cold water on the Tigers’ late-game efforts for the victory.

In all, the Tamaraws scored 29 points in the final quarter and 47 for the whole second half. Eight Tams scored in that pivotal last-quarter rampage.

Tolentino, a former Rookie of the Year awardee with Ateneo, led the team with a double-double effort of 15 points and 10 rebounds plus two steals, an assist and a block off the bench. Ron Dennison likewise scored 15 markers to go with four boards.

"We came out flat. Sinabi ko na sa kanila na you come out with intensity, energy, and effort, at hindi nangyari 'yun," said FEU coach Olsen Racela of his wards, which had a sixday break coming into the match.

"Nung second half, 'yun ang nangyari. We matched UST's intensity at nahigitan pa namin and that turned things around," he later added.

Jeepy Faundo paced UST 16 points and 11 rebounds, while Jordan Sta. Ana churned in 11.

Regie Basibas, who went on a 23-point onslaught in their loss against National Univeristy on Wednesday, was limited to just eight points on three field goals made.
