QUEZON CITY--Gawin Fernandez the game-winning shot to lift Camarines Sur to a 14-13 win over La Union in the national final of the Ginebra San Miguel 3-on-3 Tournament at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Sunday night.
Fernandez scored the go-ahead free throw with 34 seconds to go, while his teammates put on a huge defensive stand afterward to win the championship game, although they still had to evade some huge chances from their opponents.
Jonathan Ablao misfired a long tom that could have given La Union the lead, while Firmorico Francisco sorrily missed a putback at the buzzer, letting CamSur escape.
Fernandez finished with six markers, while Dan Michael Uy added four, Raphael De Vera chipped in three, and Danielle Uy had a single point for CamSur, which walked away with PHP50,000 and Ginebra products.
Ablao led La Union, which took home PHP25,000 for the runner-up finish, six points too. Noriel Guerrero made three markers, while Franciso and VJay Viloria each had two.
