MANILA—Ateneo notched its third win in a row and solo top spot with a 94-82 drubbing of Far Eastern U in the second game of men’s basketball action of the UAAP Season 80 at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City Sunday.

Banking on a blistering start, the finalists last year erected an early 34-22 advantage highlighted by seven triples and kept the Tamaraws at bay throughout for the victory.

It is also the third straight lop-sided outing for the boys from Katipunan after earlier wins opposite Adamson (85-65) and UP (92-71).

Thirdy Ravena led three other Eagles in double-figures with 18 points on a 7-of-11 clip from the field and a 50% three-point percentage (2-of-4). He also grabbed 11 rebounds, dished out five assists and blocked a shot once.

Anton Asistio added 16 points, 14 in that telling first-half rampage, while Matt Nieto and Vince Tolentino combined for 21 markers.

“We shot the ball well from the field and even from the three-point line, but we also gave a lot of points to FEU," echoed Ateneo assistant coach Sandy Arespacochaga.

Asistio and Matt Nieto had a hand on six of Ateneo’s 12 three-point conversions, while having a plus-20 advantage in starter points (62-42).

Wendell Comboy  paced FEU, now sliding to 1-2, with 12 points. Prince Orizu chipped in 11 with five boards, while former Blue Eagle Arvin Tolentino also issued 11 for the Tamaraws.
