QUEZON CITY -- The 2-0 club in the UAAP Women's Basketball tournament now has a new member, after UST plucked a comprehensive 75-66 win over Adamson Saturday noon at the Big Dome.
Haydee Ong's Growling Tigresses leaned on the fluid ball movement and transition offense to avenge their last season's elimination by the Lady Falcons to remain unbeaten along with Ateneo and NU.
Maximizing her slashing skills to the hilt, graduating guard Jen Angeles shot 67% from inside the arc en route to game-high 22 points, with forward Sai Larosa backing her up with a double-double of 16 points and 17 rebound, 10 of them from the offensive end.
Jamie Alcoy paced the Lady Falcons with 14 points but it was not enough for Mike Fermin to avoid a 0-2 start to the season.
Both Adamson and UST goe on a see-saw encounter in which both teams exchanged runs from the opening tip.
After Adamson scored the first basket, UST replied with a 9-0 run before the Lady Falcons responded with an 10-2 reply to grab the upper-hand in the first period.
But it was all UST the rest of the way, outscoring Adamson by five in the next quarter to lead by 5 at the half.
The Tigresses the dominated the third quarter, with Larosa's freebies pushed their advantage at its biggest at 12, 51-39.
UST then fended off wave after wave of Adamson attacks to remain unbeaten, capping off with a 15-footer by Angeles with 44.4 ticks left.
