TAGUIG -- Even before the opening tip, the ASEAN Basketball League went full speed ahead its launch for its eight season today at the posh Shangri-La Fort.
The new season will have a record nine teams in tow, as defending champs Eastern lead the five holdovers from last season, as well the supercharged Alab Pilipinas, Saigon Heat and pioneers Singapore Slingers and Malaysia Dragons.
Mono Vampire is back after a year of absence, as the league welcomed its three newcomers.
Leading the way are the fabled CLS Knights who will fly the Merah Putih of Indonesia, along with the Formosa Dreamers of Changhua who replace the Kaohsiung Truth as the Taiwanese representative.
Wrapping up the cast are Chinese side Nanhai Long Lions who made waves in the CBA as the Foshan Dralions.
