Alcoy sizzle in the first as Adamson claw UP

PASAY CITY -- Jamie Alcoy lit up in the opening ten minutes after coming off the bench as Adamson bounced back from Sunday's embarassment to take down UP, 82-60 in the second round of the UAAP Women's Basketball tournament today noon at the MOA Arena.

After being held scoreless in the same quarter in their blowout loss to UST last Sunday, Alcoy scored 10 of the game-high 17 in the opening frame to lead the Lady Falcons of John Kallos, who improve to a game below .500 at 4-5 to maintain their .

"At least nakarecover yung mga bata dun sa nangyari samin against UST.  Hopefully madala namin ito kasi halos lahat ng games namin importante. So wala kaming break kahit sunod-sunod ang mga game namin," Kallos said after the game, in which he bared that they continued to train even on an open court and they will not have a break during the stretch, not even a transport strike that plagued the metro in the past two days.

Natalia Prado backed Alcoy with a double double of 12 markers and 12 boards to send the still-winless Lady Maroons crashing to their eighth straight loss.

Four UP starters, led by Pat Rodas, scored 10 points each in a losing cause.

Alcoy provided the spark off the bench in the opening period to give Adamson a 26-17 lead.

Then the Lady Falcons took flight and left the Lady Maroons for dead in the following period, limiting their victims to just 11 second-quarter points as they took a 20-point lead at the break in which they preserved at the end of third.

Adamson led by as much as 31, 78-47 in the final frame to put the finishing touches on their win.
