BIÑAN—On a night
that looked like something Meralco would want to forget, the team
showed heart in the end.
The Bolts rallied from
17 points down—and a dry first half of the first quarter—to steal
the PBA Governors' Cup semifinals Game 1 win from the Star Hotshots
at the Alonte Sports Arena on Sunday night.

"We figured that
we just focus on our defense. Particularly, when they went big, we
went zone," said Coach Norman Black on how they executed the comeback.
And it worked.
Meralco forced Star to 24 turnovers, four in the dying moments, and limited its opponent to only 32 percent shooting, rendering it scoreless in the last 3:45 of the game.
Apart from that, Bolts (eight) had more steals than the Hotshots (six). Also, the Bolts had double of the Hotshots' blocks, 4-2.
