QUEZON CITY -- JUST BRING OUT THE BROOMS.
Reigning three-peat queens NU swept the first round of the UAAP women's basketball tournament Wednesday afternoon inside Ateneo's Blue Eagle Gym, smothering UP to pieces in a 92-38 genocide.
A total team effort by the Lady Bulldogs did not even give the Lady Maroons a chance to tie the game, leading by as much as 57 to win their 55th consecutive game in the span of four seasons.
NU practically had the game in the bag in the second quarter, sending UP to their sixth straight loss.
In a total mismatch, National limited State to two double digit quarters.
Ria Nabalan fired another double-double of 17 points and 10 boards, doing most of the damage in the first half when the game was practically settled with NU leading 41-19.
In the second half, it was Trixie Antiquiera's turn to torch the Katipunan nets, firing 21 of her game high 24 points which all came in the second half.
