Ravena insists there's no change of heart in declaring for PBA Draft

MANDALUYONG—Last August, Alab Pilipinas posted silhouettes of the star core of its lineup for the 2018 ABL season.

One of them resembled that of Kiefer Ravena, hinting that he might stay with the team after playing only during the semis of last season.

However, last month, Ravena tweeted that he is declaring for the PBA Draft.

Asked by Dugout Philippines on Monday night about the said move, Ravena said that it was not a change of heart.

"We're already doing well with Alab, but sometimes, things don't end up the way you wanted," Ravena said. "I just felt that I have to do something for my career that I have to decide on."

He then insisted that he is in good terms with Alab's higher ups.

"There's nothing bad between me, Coach Jimmy [Alapag], Boss Charlie Dy, and everybody else sa Alab. It's a great organization," Ravena continued.

From possibly becoming Alab's new pillar alongside Ray-Ray Parks, Ravena could end up becoming NLEX's new ace as Coach Yeng Guiao is already keen on selecting him second overall in the draft assuming Kia or rumored new top pick owner San Miguel takes Chris Standhardinger first.

On what he can bring to a guard-laden Road Warriors, Ravena said, "I will help an already strong team. I'm willing to learn a lot from Coach Yeng. Kung ano siguro ang kulang, yun ang pupunuin kong butas. I'll be a point guard, and I'll be more than happy to set those guys up. I think I'll be able to make their lives easier in terms of scoring and setting them up."
