Elite coaches grace coaching convention

PASIG–The country’s best high school tacticians converged at the 6th MVP Sports Foundation Coaches Convention at the Ynares Sports Arena, Monday afternoon.

Some 1,500 coaches from 80 cities nationwide grace this annual convention on its sixth year, which will run until Thursday in collaboration with the SM NBTC League. This will also officially start the 2017-18 SM NBTC season.

Among the powerhouse cast of resource speakers gracing the three-day convention are Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) Executive Director Renauld ‘Sonny’ Barrios; Vincent ‘Chot’ Reyes, Gilas Pilipinas head coach; National University assistant Paolo Layug; current Ateneo de Manila head coach Thomas Anthony ‘Tab’ Baldwin; Chappy Callanta; Tanduay-Alab Pilipinas tactician and former Gilas court general Jimmy Alapag; Noli Ayo and guest coach Brett Coxsedge of Australia.

“We are excited to have someone of the caliber of Coach Brett teaching in the SM NBTC,” glowed SM NBTC league director Eric Altamirano.

Also invited to speak before coaches on communication and sports motivation is renowned sports columnist and commentator Quinito Henson of the Philippine Star and ESPN 5.

The SM NBTC Coaches Convention is sponsored by the MVP Sports Foundation and is under the SM NBTC umbrella. It is also an official grassroots program of the SBP.
