F2 Logistics down winless Sta.Lucia for second win in PSL Grand Prix

SAN JUAN—As if its morale-boosting win against erstwhile unbeaten Petron last time is not enough for F2 Logistics.

Riding on a high from the Bacolod victory, the Cargo Movers pounded the skidding Sta. Lucia, 25-16, 25-23,25-23, in the main game of the 2017 Chooks-To-Go Philippine Superliga Grand Prix at the FilOil Flying V Centre November 7.

Behind another explosive outing from imports Kennedy Bryan and Maria Jose Perez, the Cargo Movers improved to a 2-0 win-loss slate whil sending the Lady Realtors to its third loss in as many games.

American Bryan finished the match with 13 points, all on attacks, while the Venezuelan Perez pumped in 12 on 10 kills for the Cargo Movers, which survived late scares in the last two sets.

Abby Maraño and Majoy Baron contributed nine and eight markers respectively, while Kim Kianna Dy had seven and Kim Fajardo six.

Behind by four in the third frame, 18-22, the Cargo Movers tied the ballgame at 23-all, before Dy blocked Ukraine's Bohdana Anisova's attempt to secure victory in an hour and 28 minutes.

F2 had a plus-10 advantage in attacks (41-31) and fired 12 blocks, but only had two service aces to Sta. Lucia’s seven.

“Itong Sta. Lucia, hindi madaling kalaban siguro naunahan lang namin or matter of breaks lang siguro,” F2 coach Ramil De Jesus said in a post-game chat.

“Hindi biro pag nasa harap mo na yung mga imports, then three imports sila actually four pa nga andyan pa ‘yung (MJ) Phillips. So hindi madaling kalaban, hindi mo pwedeng biru-biruin, so talagang disiplina dapat pagdating sa loob ng court,” he added.

Anisova scored 14 points on 11 attacks for Sta. Lucia, but got little help from her teammates. Canadian Marsha Field got seven points, while Pam Lastimosa had eight.
