MANILA--The PBA Board of Governors declared the Commissioner's Office vacant by ending the term of embattled league chief Chito Narvasa on Thursday.
In the emergency meeting in the league's headquarters in Quezon City, the seven-strong majority have filed a resolution not to endorse and support the extension of Narvasa as the league's top man, ending a tumultuous two years at the helm for the former Shell mentor.

The seven board members that comprised the majority are from the MVP bloc (TNT, Meralco, NLEX) as well as four indie teams (Alaska, Rain Or Shine, Blackwater and Phoenix)
Conspicuously absent from the meeting are Globalport, Kia and the SMC Group (San Miguel Beer, Ginebra and Star) which the majority group said that Narvasa is more favored to.
The board also moves to appoint operations chief Rickie Santos as the officer-in-charge to ensure continuity of league operations.

Narvasa's removal will not deter the league's build-up to its 43rd season, as incoming chair Ramoncito Fernandez said that the opening will be on schedule.
