Ria Nabalan and NU came to within a win away from a return to the Finals after manhandling UST.

QUEZON CITY -- National U moved to within a win away to a return trip to the finals after goring UST to pieces in a wire to wire 79-58 rout in the penultimate day of the UAAP women's basketball tournament Wednesday noon at the Big Dome.

The Lady Bulldogs denied the Tigresses the lead in the entire game, with all nine players that Patrick Aquino inserted on the court scored at least a field goal.

With the rout, UE became the biggest beneficiary of it, as they formalized their claim as the league's second seed ahead of their titanic rematch of the season opener on Saturday in San Juan.

Skipper and forward Ria Nabalan lead NU with 17 points on a 55% clip from inside the arc.

Je Anne Camelo and Jack Danielle Animam backstopped Nabalan with solid outings off the bench.

Camelo fired for 15 markers despite shooting 29% from the field, while the Perlas standout center hauled a double-double of 14 points and grabbed 16 rebounds, eleven of them from the offensive glass

NU pulled away for good from the lone deadlock of the game in the opening frame, leading by as much as 26, 69-43 on a Trixie Antiquiera bucket with 8:38 left in the game.

Sai Larosa fired for 20 to lead all scorers but UST's bench went missing to suffer back-to-back setbacks to end the regular season at 10-4, good for third place.
