MANILA—Calling itself the "PBA 5", the "minority bloc" that was formed out of the drama surrounding the future of Commissioner Chito Narvasa called for unity with the "majority bloc" to finally settle the score on Narvasa's term extension.
"With the best interest of the league in mind, we have come to an agreement to reach out to the other members of the board to resolve this impasse as a collegial body, not as individuals, to maintain the integrity of the PBA and protect the interest of fans nationwide," a statement on Friday read.
The "PBA 5", the SMC umbrella, Kia, and GlobalPort, also called on the "Renegade 7", to add the final decision on the extension of Narvasa's term in the agenda of the annual league planning on Nov. 14.
"We trust we would be able to resolve issues regarding Commissioner Narvasa's tenure and other matters regarding the PBA's future direction... with fitting dignity and decorum," the SMC bloc's statement continued.
The "PBA 5" also called on the "majority bloc" not to issue any more statements regarding Narvasa's future.
