UE moves closer to number 2 with a mauling of Adamson

QUEZON CITY -- UE inched in to the second spot in the UAAP women's basketball tournament after goring Adamson to pieces in a 70-51 beating Wednesday morning at the Araneta Coliseum.

The Lady Warriors of Aileen Libornio pulled away in the middle quarters as they doubled the output of the Lady Falcons in that same stretch to remain unbeaten in the second round, hiking their card at 11-2 ahead of their titanic clash against unbeaten NU on Saturday in San Juan

"Kelangan magprepare kami kasi ang NU di papayag na umabot ulit sa overtime," Libornio said about their biggest game of the season against the defending three-peat queens who are playing UST as of press time.

The guard combo of Ruthlaine Tacula and Lovejoy Sto. Domingo joined forces with a pair of double-doubles of their own.

Tacula fired a pair of game highs, scoring 13 points and dropped 12 dimes in 31 minutes of action, while Sto. Domingo increased her stock for Perlas consideration after posting 11 markers and hauled 10 rebounds despite with an ankle sprain against La Salle.

Kristeena Camacho pitched in for 10 points off the benc for Adamson who lost steam in the second and third periods to end their season at 6-8.

UE pulled away from a close first quarter by outscoring the Lady Falcons by a ratio of 2:1, leading by as much as 24 late in the penultimate quarter on a Joyce Francisco triple.
