QUEZON CITY -- University of Sto. Tomas has moved on to the next stage of the UAAP Womens's stepladder playoffs after dislodging FEU, 86-72 in the knockout game Sunday afternoon at the Big Dome.

The third-ranked Tigresses of Haydee Ong banked on a second-quarter breakaway to advance to the next stage to dislodge the fourth-placed Lady Tamaraws, where second seed UE awaits them on Wednesday, where the Lady Warriors had a twice-to-beat advantage.

Five UST players were on double digits, who were led by combo guard Anjel Anies who fired for 24 off the bench.

Mythical team member in waiting Sai Larosa backstopped Anies by firing in all of her 10 points in the payoff period.

Guard Angel Arellado ended her collegiate career with 19 points for the season hosts whose return to the postseason ended in a losing cause for Bert Flores.

After tight opening frame that ended in a deadlock, UST broke the 29-all deadlock in an 8-0 blitz to pull away for good, leading by as much as 16 in the process despite shooting an atrocious 7/16 from the 15-foot parallel.

"What's good is our defense hold in the last five minutes. We've kept Mamaril scoreless, she's 0/9. And our three-pointers are sinking in," Ong said after.
