MANILA--Mary Joy Tabal looks to set history as the 41st Milo Marathon season reaches its climax in Cebu City.

A win in the national finals on Sunday will give the Rio Olympian her fifth consecutive pennant, making her the first marathoner ever to achieve the said feat, and she can clinch it in front of her fellow Cebuanos.

However, Christabel Martes is expected to give Tabal a run for her money even as longtime Milo Marathon king Eduardo Buenavista looks to get the men's title back from Jeson Agravante, who seeks to repeat his 2016 title conquest.

Eight hundred runners will join the 42-kilometer race that will start at the Cebu Normal University and will end at the Cebu City Sports Center, and they are part of about 32,000 who will participate in all the races in the national finals.

As much as PHP500,000 can be won by the top local finishers of the race.
