Huelgas, Chicano nominated for SBR Triathlete of the Year

BOCAUE--Nikko Huelgas and John Chicano headline the nominees for the Men's Elite Triathlete of the Year in the fifth edition of the annual award by triathlon website SBR.ph.

Huelgas and Chicano made their presence felt in Kuala Lumpur when they finished 1-2 in the SEA Games men's triathlon race last year.


Huelgas even took the gold in style, ruling the race in less than two hours.

August Benedicto, Banjo Norte, and Paul Jumamil made up the rest of the nominees.

Chicano is also nominated for Men's Duathlete of the Year along with Emmanuel Comendador, Joey Delos Reyes, Raymund Torio, and Ryan Mendoza.

Meanwhile, Kim Mangrobang and Claire Adorna, who also took the gold and silver respectively in the women's triathlon race of the said biennial meet, are cinches for the Women's Elite Triathlete of the Year.

Joining them in the list are Kim Kilgroe, Maria Hodges, and Monica Torres.

On the other hand, actor Gerald Anderson, the star of triathlon-themed daytime drama series "Ikaw Lang ang Iibigin", is nominated in the Men's Age Group category.

Joining Anderson in the five-man nominee list are Jet Ramos, Jong Sajulga, Mervin Santiago, and Ronald Molit.
