PASIG--Rey Publico came to the rescue of Wang's Basketball-Letran, scoring the go-ahead bucket in the Couriers' 83-82 come-from-behind victory over Che'Lu Bar and Grill-San Sebastian in the 2018 PBA D-League Aspirants' Cup Monday at Ynares Sports Arena.
The veteran center scored on an undergoal stab with 4.1 seconds remaining to complete the Couriers awe-inspiring comeback from 19 points down and stayed undefeated in two games..
"Actually, yun yung designed play. Kay Jeo yung lob pass pero maganda yung defense nila. Na-fumble tapos napunta kay Rey. Ayun, pumasok," said coach Jeff Napa.
Bong Quinto led the fourth quarter uprising, scoring 13 of his 21 points in the final frame. He also collected 12 rebounds, four assists, and two steals.
Quinto presided over a 25-5 blast to start the fourth to turn a 73-54 deficit into a 79-78 lead and set up the nip-and-tuck battle late.
Ambohot finished with a double-double with 14 points, 10 boards, two assists, and two blocks, JP Calvo went 3-of-5 from threes for 13 points, and Publico added 12 markers.
Napa downplayed their 2-0 start, saying: "That doesn't mean na maganda na ang tinatakbo namin."
"Masaya lang ako na yung puso ng Letranista, di kami bumibitaw."
Michael Calisaan paced the Revellers (1-1) with 21 points and six rebounds in the defeat.
