TAGUIG--The top obstacle course in the world is finally in the Philippines.

Tough Mudder Inc. and Proactive Sports Management tied up for the first Philippine Tough Mudder event this year.

"This is the only Tough Mudder event this year in Asia," said Jay Em, Proactive's president, during the media launch of the two-legged series at the Shangrila Hotel within the BGC complex on Saturday.

Nathan Bassett, Tough Mudder's operations manager, clarified, "This is not a race. This is a challenge."

To back up his statement, Justine Cordero, Proactive's COO, added, "Tough Mudder is not just about being tough; it is also about teamwork and determination."

From its roots in the United Kingdom, Tough Mudder has reached the United States, Germany, Australia, UAE, Canada, South Africa, and Oman.

"Tough Mudder events have united millions seeking a more engaging, communal form of active lifestyle," said Tough Mudder CEO Will Dean.

There will be two legs this year, one in July, where a five-kilometer and an eight-kilometer challenges will take place, and another in November, where the full 16-kilometer course will be unveiled.

"For July, we're looking at 5,000 participants," Em visioned.

To help the participants, Cordero added that clinics will take place ahead of the July race.

Further details will be revealed soon, but registration is now ongoing at Tough Mudder's Facebook page.
