Zark's-Lyceum subdues Akari-Adamson in potential playoff preview

PASIG--Jaymar Perez scores 20 points and Jaycee Marcelino had 19 to help Zark's Burger-Lyceum put away Akari-Adamson, 83-76, in the PBA D-League Aspirants' Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena on Tuesday.

The two teams played under playoff atmosphere that saw the score deadlocked seven times and the lead changed hands on 25 occasions.

Jerrick Ahanmisi forced the last deadlock at 73-all with 3:58 remaining before the Jawbreakers went on a 10-3 closing run to nail their third straight win after opening their campaign with a loss to Marinerong Pilipino.


"I just challenged them," said Zark's Burger-Lyceum coach Topex Robinson afterwards. "I have to back off sometimes and trust them that they will do the right thing."

Mike Nzeusseu and Mer Ayaay combined for 21 rebounds for the Jawbreakers.

Ahanmisi's 3-pointer with 2:17 left pulled the Falcons within 73-76 before Perez nailed his own trey and sank two free throws to closeout scoring.

Cameroonian center Papi Sarr tallied a double with 17 points, 13 rebounds for the Falcons who evened their record at 1-1.

Ahanmisi shot 3-of-9 from downtown and contributed 15 markers, eight boards, and four dimes in the loss.
