MANILA--As the Philippines gears up for the hosting of the 2019 SEA Games, Senator Sonny Angara spiced things up a bit.

The current vice chairman of the Senate Sports Committee filed a bill that will pave the way for the construction of the so-called Philippine Amateur Sports Training Center in the New Clark City complex in Capas.

"Sports training centers reflect the state of sports in a given country, and particularly, the support being given," said Angara in a statement, in which a copy was obtained by Dugout Philippines on Wednesday.

Angara then admitted that the bill stemmed from the social media posts of Olympic silver medalist Hidilyn Diaz.

"These are the sad realities our athletes face but the fact that they succeeded despite lack of support speaks loads about their strength and spirit," Angara pointed out. "Ang sabi nga, ‘Partida pa ‘yan, paano pa kung may gamit pang-training?’"

Once it gets the go-signal from President Rodrigo Duterte, the PASTC will be quickly established to be used as the practice facility of the athletes competing in the SEA Games as well as various international competitions.
