PASAY--Coach Tim Cone admitted that Ginebra is not living to the favorites tag that it got during the preseason eight games into its PBA Philippine Cup campaign.

"It's been a struggle for us this conference," Cone said on Wednesday night.

Despite keeping the core of last season's Governors' Cup championship team intact, the Barangay have a hard time racking up wins this conference, even bowing to Blackwater and NLEX.

Luckily for them, they scored their biggest win of their stint, dealing the Kia Picanto a 26-point mauling at the Mall of Asia Arena.

"It's nice to be able to grind a perfect game and pull away," Cone said of the win. "Hopefully, this might be the game that could lead us to a turnaround."

With the win plus Phoenix's huge victory earlier Wednesday against TNT, Ginebra and the two aforementioned squads are now tied in fifth at 4-4 with three games remaining, and for Cone, "it's important for us to get to .500."

The Barangay and the KaTropa, however, will go separate ways on Sunday night as they collide for the first time since their dramatic Governors' Cup semifinal clash at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
