MANILA--Vic Manuel took over in overtime as Alaska scored its sixth straight win in the PBA Philippine Cup against GlobalPort in Antipolo.

But Manuel somehow deflected credit for it.

"Nagkataon lang siguro na yung mga tinatawag na plays ni Coach [Alex Compton] noong OT, para sa akin," said Manuel, who was scoreless in the fourth quarter but came up with seven in the extra five minutes to lead the Aces' breakaway.

In spite of it, he is grateful that he is providing huge contributions to Alaska again.

"Masaya ako na nakakatulong ako sa team," Manuel further said.

His timely hits in the free basketball session earned him the nod of the PBA Press Corps as he was named the Player of the Week on Monday.

And he has Compton to thank for.

"Talagang malaki ang tiwala niya sa akin," said Manuel, who got the citation over teammates Calvin Abueva and Chris Banchero, TNT's Kelly Williams and Jayson Castro, Rain Or Shine's Beau Belga, Chris Tiu, and Ed Daquioag, San Miguel's Chris Ross, Chico Lanete, and Junemar Fajardo, NLEX's Cyrus Baguio and Larry Fonacier, and Magnolia's Mark Barroca.
