MANILA--Mikee Romero reiterated his stand that Peping Cojuangco should be replaced as POC president ahead of Friday's much-anticipated general elections.
"Cojuangco's 13-year reign must end tomorrow," the party-list representative said through a statement that was obtained by Dugout Philippines on Thursday, the eve of "Judgment Day".
Romero, a national polo team member and PBA team owner, also called on Cojuangco's supporters to do the "honorable way" of stepping aside.
"The International Olympic Committee is closely monitoring how the February 23 POC elections will be conducted," Romero further said.
He also called the POC "to review their respective charters and by-laws, set term limits, and institutionalize succession programs to ensure the sustainability of Philippine sports."
"It is time for a fresh start," he added.
