QUEZON CITY--Wang's Basketball-Letran learned its lessons from previous defeats and capitalized on it to secure a 73-55 victory over Jose Rizal University in the 2018 PBA D-League Aspirants' Cup Monday at JCSGO Gym in Cubao.

Coming off an 18-day break, the Couriers dominated their struggling opponent to snap a two-game slide.

"We made sure that we don't commit the same mistakes when we lost successive games against Zark's Burger-Lyceum and Marinerong Pilipino. I thought we did a pretty good job on both ends," said Wang's Basketball-Letran coach Jeff Napa.

Christian Fajarito scored 15 points and pulled down seven rebounds, while Bong Quinto led the third quarter breakaway, pouring eight of his 13 points in the period, while also collecting four boards, and two assists.

Jerrick Balanza came off the bench and scored 12 points, and hauled down three rebounds.

The Couriers pulled away for good in the third frame as Quinto steered his side to a 28-point explosion in the quarter to establish the decisive 60-38 advantage late in the period.

Aaron De Guzman dropped 12 points and four rebounds, while Jeckster Apinan got 10 markers and 14 rebounds for JRU (1-5), which has now lost five straight games.
