PASIG--Zark’s Burger-Lyceum fended off a first half flurry from Mila’s Lechon and delivered a 102-55 decimation for its fifth straight victory in the 2018 PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup on Thursday the at Pasig Sports Center.

Mike Nzeusseu led the charge for the Jawbreakers with 15 points and 10 rebounds, while Jaycee Marcelino and Kim Cinco took advantage of the extended garbage time and unloaded 12 markers apiece in the comfortable win.

CJ Perez had a conference-low nine points, five boards, two assists, and a steal, but didn’t really need to put much effort for Zark’s-Lyceum as the bench crew stepped up and poured 55 markers in the tiff.

Seeking to end their drought, the Mighty Roasters caught the Jawbreakers off-guard, going 42-percent from the field in the first half to keep themselves in the game.

However, Mila’s Lechon could not sustain that form in the third quarter as the streaking Zark’s-Lyceum staged a killer 23-0 blast to swing a 44-41 advantage to a commanding 67-41 lead and cruise to its fifth straight victory.

Jawbreakers coach Topex Robinson, though, was perplexed with the complete lack of effort their opponents showed in the game as he hammered the idea to his players to always respect the game.

“We don’t have control on how our opponents play. We always tell the players that no matter who we’re playing, we have to play at our best every time. If the opportunity is there to score, well keep on scoring,” he said. “Basketball has been good to us and the only thing we can do is to respect the game. I just told them that they’re so lucky that they’re in this team that nurtures that kind of respect for the game.”

Ken Acibar’s 16 points was the lone bright spot in the crestfallen performance from the cellar-dwelling Mila’s Lechon (0-4).
