Fajardo takes blame for too much turnovers in SMB's shock Game 1 loss

QUEZON CITY--Junemar Fajardo actually had a triple-double in Game 1 of the PBA Philippine Cup Finals between San Miguel and Magnolia.

A bizarre one, though.

The 6-foot-10 behemoth may have tallied 31 points and 18 rebounds, but he too had 11 turnovers, and that somehow costed the Beermen the win as they fell to the Hotshots at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Friday night.

"Ang dami ko kasing turnovers eh. Sa akin talaga. Masyado akong nanggigil," Fajardo said as he took responsibility for the loss.

Eight of his errors came in the second half, when SMB actually built a 20-point lead only to be overhauled by Magnolia.

As a sigh of relief for him, though, that was just Game 1.

"Kailangan lang namin mag-bounce back. Hindi pa naman tapos ang series," Fajardo continued.

Game 2 is set for Palm Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay.
