MANILA -- UAAP's Thursday triple-headers were wrapped up today with University of the Philippines take the top spot all by themselves as Ateneo and UE won in contrasting fashion as well.

Only five goals were produced today and all of the winners have shut down their opponents as the first round was nearing its conclusion.

In the lone morning tiff, the Fighting Maroons dumped tournament hosts La Salle, 2-0.

Miggy Clariño put State ahead just eighteen minutes in from a corner, as Kintaro Miyagi wrapped up the contest by pouncing in on a Fidel Tacardon feed three minutes before full time to remain unbeaten in six matches for their fifth win of the season, moving up to 16 points in the table.

The reigning champions were made to work by a pesky Adamson side in an early afternoon that was played in brutal heat before the Blue Eagles prevail with the same score as the first match.

After being held scoreless in the first forty-five, fourth-year skipper Julian Roxas fooled the Falcon wall by firing a bouncing free kick a minute past the hour mark.

Then in stoppage time, sophomore Ryan Haosen seal their fourth win with a rebound off Jarvey Gayoso's initial free kick, giving them their fourth win to remain in third.

And in the final match, Red Warrriors gave the league leaders a huge favor by taking down second-running UST by the slimmest of scorelines.

Regil Kent Galaura fired the lone strike in the 43rd minute, as UE bounced back from being at the wrong end of Sunday's rout against Ateneo in a massive way, complicating the race at fourth as they, National U and La Salle reduce the gap between them at just two points in the table.
