MANILA--Alaska withstood a late Blackwater run to score a 93-74 win in their PBA Commissioner's Cup clash at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City on Sunday night.

The Aces nearly blew a 30-point lead as the Elite came to within seven in the fourth quarter.

"When you get a lead like that and you feel the game that way ang tendency talaga ng player is to be complacent," explained Alaska coach Alex Compton after the game. "Credit to coach Leo Isaac. I don't know what he told his team at halftime, but obviously... it helped."

But thanks to Vic Manuel's clutch baskets, the Aces recovered and never looked back.

Manuel came off the bench to score 27 points for the Alaska, which bounced back from a stinging overtime defeat to Rain Or Shine on Friday.

Antonio Campbell added 23 points and 19 rebounds.

Jarrid Famous fired 27 markers for Blackwater, which further slipped to 0-3.
