NCR jocks up for big medal breakaway

VIGAN Ilocos Sur - National Capital Region has further widened their gap over their fellow regions at the ongoing 2018 Palarong Pambansa, Wednesday evening.

The 13-time champions now have a whopping 38 gold, 24 silver and 15 bronze medal haul as of 10:51 p.m.

Distant pursuants to NCR's throne Calabarzon and Western Visayas both have identical 15 gold, 18 silver medals under their names. The former still sits at second place with 31 bronzes as compared to WV's 26.

Early contenders SOCCSKSARGEN slid to fourth overall in the medal tally with their 14 gold, 13 silver and 15 bronzes under their banner.

Closely following them are the athletes from Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) with 12 golds, nine silvers and nine bronze medals, good for fifth overall.

Sitting on sixth position is Central Visayas with nine gold, four silver and eight bronze medals. They are closely chased by Central Luzon with their own eight gold, five silver, and 6 bronze medals.

Rounding the top 10 in the medal board are Northern Mindanao (6-7-8), Cagayan Valley (6-5-7), and Bicol Region (5-9-14). Hosts Ilocos Region meanwhile, are currently with four golds, six silvers and nine bronze medals.

Other regions that won at least 2 gold medals are Caraga (4-2-5), Davao Region (3-10-8), Mimaropa (2-6-4) and Eastern Visayas with 2 golds, 2 silvers and 1 bronze medal.

Still to win their first gold medals in their 2018 Palaro campaign are Zamboanga Peninsula (0-4-3) and Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (0-0-1)

With two playing days left before the formal closing of the Games, close to 250 gold medals will still be up for grabs.
