BATANGAS CITY--Rey Guevarra won the PBA All-Star Slam Dunk Contest after a tight showdown with Renz Palma in the championship round on Friday night at the Batangas City Sports Center.
The final showdown between Phoenix's Guevarra and Blackwater's Palma actually needed an extra dunk-off as both dunkers were tied after two rounds.
In the extra round, however, the four-man jury of PBA legends Ed Cordero, Atoy Co, Benjie Paras, and Alvin Patrimonio gave Palma's one-handed 360-degree slam a 39.
On the other hand, Guevarra's windmill dunk off the bounce merited a 40 from the judges, giving him his fourth dunk title in five years.
