Laguna's huge win vs Marikina comes at a price as Arboleda, Hayeson injured

By Ivan Saldajeno

BINAN--Stallion Laguna may have scored a 4-1 blowout win against JPV Marikina at the Binan Football Stadium.

However, two key players were hurt in the process.

"Fitch [Arboleda] got hurt really early in the first half, and then my goalkeeper (Pepito Hayeson) broke his nose," said head coach Ernie Nierras at the post-match press conference at the Alonte Sports Arena on Saturday night.

Arboleda was actually seen stretchered out of the venue after the game, but he was still able to walk on his own afterward.

On the other hand, Hayeson, who suffered the broken nose following a collision with a Marikina player late in the second half, got up and finished the game.

"I have no choice but to play Pepito with a broken nose because it's either Pepito with a broken nose or Pepito with a broken foot," Nierras continued.

Hayeson has been getting the start recently due to the injury to Laguna's main netminder Bitoy Rosalia.

Rosalia actually suited up against Marikina, but Nierras opted to once again give Hayeson a start, and the gaffer will do the same next Saturday, when Laguna hosts league-leading Negros.

"Bitoy's still injured.... Maybe Pepito will have to wear a mask for the match," Nierras bared.
