BINAN--Just before the PBA goes to its All-Star break, NLEX and Blackwater went to work in terms of trading players.
Both teams agreed on a trade that will see Dave Marcelo and Rabeh Al-Hussaini swapping kits. The trade was made official on Saturday.
The trade came at an opportune time as both teams are currently on a slump.
Blackwater is in need of more ceiling with Poy Erram and James Sena its only legit local big men.
On the other hand, NLEX went for Marcelo as Coach Yeng Guiao looks at utilizing him, Raul Soyud and Mike Miranda, who have shown brilliance this season, more often.
"Dave Marcelo can be part of our future mainstays. May mga players tayo sa NLEX na pa-retire na rin, so we’re looking for the next generation after sina JR [Quinahan]. So ito na sina Raul, Mike, [and] Fonzo [Gotladera]—‘yun ang vision," said Coach Yeng Guiao in a statement the day before, when NLEX announced the then trade proposal.
